The internet should stay useful, open, and worth building for.

Dear internet builder,

Software that people love often looks free from the outside. Behind it are independent developers paying for infrastructure, answering support messages, fixing the next browser update, and deciding whether they can afford to keep going.

Ads, subscriptions, and selling user data are not the only answers. Mellowtel is building a consent-first monetization layer: people can choose to share a small fraction of unused internet resources, businesses use that network to access public web data, and part of the revenue goes back to the developers whose products make the network possible.

The choice is reversible. The core library is open source. Personal browsing data is not the product. We believe a sustainable internet can also be a respectful one.

We are here to help more useful software survive, and give the people who use it a real say in how it is funded.

A simple value exchange.

Mellowtel creates a direct link between voluntary support and sustainable developer revenue.

A person choosing to support software they value

People choose to support

Users are opted out by default. They decide if and when they want to support a product they value.

Public web pages moving through a distributed network

Public web access creates value

A small share of idle internet resources helps trusted companies retrieve public web data.

A developer earning sustainable revenue from their software

Developers share in the revenue

Part of what companies pay flows back to the creators maintaining the products people rely on.

Trust is part of the product.

The business model only works if people understand it and remain in control.

Consent first

Nothing starts until a person makes a clear choice, and that choice can be reversed at any time.

Privacy by design

Mellowtel does not need browsing history, cookies, or personal data to retrieve public web pages.

Open source

The core library is public, so developers, users, and researchers can inspect how it works.

Built for developers

When the network creates value, the developers whose products power it share in the upside.

Keep your product free without making your users the product.

Give your community a clear, optional way to support the software they value.
